We came on a Friday night and spent about 30-45 minutes in line which was not bad at all... once inside we ordered a large basic pie and a Calabrian Stinger. Both were so so delicious! We also got 2 pitchers of beer and the total was $100 - very reasonable and it was easily one of the best pizzas I have ever had... we were gifted a Tiramisu dessert by our waiter and that too was so so good! Amazing ambiance and a great feeling place. Our waiter was so so good - perfect! Knew when to ask for more, was never pushy, very kind, hard working, etc... wish I got his name but he is a bald guy and he added a great deal to us having an incredible experience and dinner! A night we will never forget! A++++

Came here after trying Frank Pepe's because it's also rated as a top spot for New Haven style pizza! I got the potato and rosemary, honestly pretty good but I prefer the flavour of Frank Pepe's more. Also got the cannoli cake since it was also recommended. I didn't like the cake as much, way too sweet.

My husband and I finally made the drive down to try Sally's and it didn't disappoint! We arrived 15min prior to opening and there was already a few people outside waiting. The doors opened exactly at 11 and we were seated right away. We shared a large cheese pizza and added pepperoni and a white pizza. Wow. It came out piping hot and was delicious with the perfect amount of char and crisp. Staff was super friendly and enthusiastic. I wish we had enough space to try more flavors. We ended up taking home a few remaining slices and it reheated in the oven amazingly. Overall a great experience and worth the hype when in the area!

I was in Connecticut visiting family along with my cousins. My cousin went on about the best pizza place in the whole world and how we absolutely had to try it. So we bundled up in our car and made the long drive here only to find out about the long wait times for a table at Sally's. The wait time for a take out order was 1.5 hours as well. But we decided to bite the bullet as it's not everyday when you get to taste a slice of history. Since we were anyway waiting we decided to get a pie from Frank Pepe's as well as it was on the same street. So I got to try pizza from both the places on the same night. Sally's was better in comparison, the sauce had more flavor, not as burnt and reasonably decent cheese to pie ratio. Having said that, this was not the best pizza I had, forget the whole world, it was not the best I had in US as well.

Waited in line outside for about 1.5h on a Sunday afternoon for 2 people to be seated inside, which seems to be pretty standard. We got a standard cheese pizza and a white pie, which took about 20-30 min to come out. Both were pretty good, very crispy thin crust, but it does come pretty charred. I think it was worth trying since we were in the area, but I don't know that I would wait so long for it. The servers were nice but we also never got any refills on water or drinks.

Growing up on New York pizza I'm definitely a tough critic. I've never been to New Haven and decided to give Sally's a try. I arrived at 11:30 and there was already a wait. Cute place in the heart of wooster little italy. Service was good and staff were friendly. I waited about 15 minutes before being seated. Place isn't fancy. It's small and quaint. I ordered the 15inch plain pizza. Love the thin crust and slight char. Sauce was flavorful. I still prefer NY style pizza but this was different and pretty good. They have their own parking lot which was convenient. By the time I left at 12:50 line was out the door. Get there early if you don't want to wait.

Came here on Thursday night with my boyfriend at around 6:15 PM--there was a line to eat inside. There is no waiting area inside so dress warm if you are planning to wait for a table as you'll be standing outside! The wait was not too bad, around 20 minutes. But I would imagine it's much longer for a weekend time. The seating is all booths and was quite roomy for just two people. Service is very prompt! We got the caesar salad which was crisp and refreshing. Of course we got the mozzarella and tomato sauce pizza, with meatballs and basil on half of it. My boyfriend preferred the plain side while I preferred the topping side. The pizza was delicious! You can actually taste a difference with the sauce, it was slightly sweet, acidic, and felt more flavorful. The pizza slices were a bit floppy though and the cheese/toppings would slide off the bottom. I didn't think the pizza tasted overly charred or burnt. I appreciated that they had all of the fixings available--garlic powder, parmesan, pepper, salt, red pepper, oregano. We finished up with a cannoli pie slice which was yummy but not a must try. Overall I would recommend coming here at an off peak time or ordering for takeout/pickup, as the pizza is definitely great! But in my opinion would not be worth a super long wait.

Came here on a trip to New Haven and ordered ahead by phone! They told me it would be about 45 minutes and there was a line around the corner and yet I stopped by 30 mins later and my pizza was tasty and steaming! We tried out the four meat -- $30 for a medium heavenly pizza. The crust is crunchy, the staff is nice and cooks right in front of you (if you stop by) Note that there are two Sally's right next to each other but they are different places!

Sally's Apizza makes darn good pizza. But if you want to give it a try, you'll have to plan ahead. This place gets busy. Really busy. We ordered online for take-out and there was still 10 people in the take-out line when we went to pick it up. Unfortunately, there is only one line for people to place in-person take-out orders and those picking up already ordered pizzas. There is a separate line for people waiting to eat inside, and it had about 15 people waiting in the cold on a Friday around 12. For those not familiar with New Haven style pizza, be ready for some crispy, charred crust. The best part of Sally's, though, is the tomato sauce. It has a sweet, yet savory taste that makes you continuously crave another bite. Another interesting characteristic about New Haven style pizza is that a 'plain' pizza has only tomato sauce and grated pecorino romano -- no mozzarella, or 'muzz' as some call it. If you're interested in the history of Sally's, there's a documentary titled "Pizza, A Love Story" that chronicles Sally's and a couple other pizza joints in the area. We watched the documentary prior to taking the trip to New Haven, and it made us that much more excited to try the pizza.
